Subhashini Kaligotla’s “Bird of the Indian Subcontinent” is the winner of The (Great) Indian Poetry Collective’s Emerging Poet prize, judged by acclaimed poet Arundhathi Subramaniam. Arundhathi writes that the poems are “crafted with a capacity to calibrate the many subtle textures of longing.”

And Jeet Thayil writes, “these poems describe a world in which ‘desire is the only master’ and the poet’s eye alights on art and men and gods alike, and each fleet thing is fixed unerring to the page.”

The book will launch on Friday, January 12 at Atta Galatta bookstore in Bangalore, where Subhashini will be in conversation with Jeet Thayil. Please join us!
